With more than two hundred and fifty kilometres between the Etruscan Coast and the Siena area, Geogravel's "I Temerari" route, i.e. The Daredevils, is dedicated to expert gravel riders seeking raw emotion and extreme adventure, in close contact with wild nature. More than 100 kilometres of unpaved road characterise this itinerary, making the unique atmosphere of these hills even more fascinating. Some of the most evocative parts are certainly the passage through the historic Ornellaia vineyards - where the world-famous wine of the same name is produced - the full immersion inside the Berignone Nature Reserve, and the Passo dell'Incrociati, where one can enjoy the landscape over Colle di Val d'Elsa and Siena. More than fifteen hours on the bike face to face with the most authentic soul of Tuscany devoted to daredevil off-road expeditions.

The route

Starting from Pomarance, the "Daredevils" route of GeoGravel Tuscany 2024 is practically identical to the Sunday Lungo until just four kilometres from Pomarance, where a left turn takes us towards San Dalmazio and Siena.

Unfolding between fields and ancient farmhouses, it begins to climb towards Libbiano with a winding road where to enjoy pleasant views of the landscape on the hills below. Next, we venture into the Monterufoli Reserve along gravel paths that run for kilometres in the wilderness. Once in Bibbona, a true journey into the world of the famous Supertuscan wines begins with crossing the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, an unforgettable glimpse of the vineyards, reached by a dirt road. Once in Bolgheri, we return inland through the scents and enchantments of the Mediterranean scrub towards Larderello, in the heart of the Metalliferous Hills and then climb to Montecerboli and reach, through a series of hairpin bends in the woods, the famous village of San Dalmazio. We then continue towards Monteguidi in the direction of Siena to arrive almost under the walls via the Passo dell'Incrociati. Then we return towards Pomarance, taking the road to Casole d'Elsa, not before admiring the magnificent fortified village of Monteriggioni in the background, and then entering the Berignone Reserve, full of trails, small lakes and rivers. A final real obstacle awaits us - the ford of the Cecina river - before returning to Pomarance, which marks the end of this long and exciting adventure.
