With more than 50 kilometres of unpaved roads, the long route of GeoGravel Tuscany is a romantic challenge between Mother Nature and her daring explorers. The entire route is rideable, with the only real difficulties coming from some steep sections or stretches where the gravel surface can be loose. The route follows the "Strade Grigie" that cut through the inland hills towards the sea, crosses several nature reserves and passes through some of the most unexplored areas of the Val di Cecina.

The turning point of this adventure is undoubtedly Bibbona, a few kilometres from the sea, with the atmosphere of a classic Tuscan medieval village: narrow alleys, stone steps and arches that take you back in time.

The route

Starting from Pomarance, the long route of GeoGravel Tuscany 2025 shares its first section with the short and medium routes. After a few kilometres of climbing, it's time to venture into the Monterufoli - Caselli Nature Reserve, following unpaved roads that perfectly reflect the spirit of gravel, stretching for kilometres through untamed wilderness.

After this detour away from civilisation, the route continues towards Casale Marittimo, before reaching Bibbona, a village with medieval roots, where the salty breeze from the Tyrrhenian Sea begins to fill the air.

The return leg offers another complete immersion in the dirt tracks that wind through the wild Mediterranean scrub that characterises this corner of Tuscany. After passing through woods dotted with the occasional farmhouse or country estate, the route passes through Canneto and continues towards Monterotondo Marittimo. From there it climbs back up to Sasso Pisano before returning to Pomarance.
